CD Replicating

When you outsource media replication projects, you want the best results possible because when work isn't up to the standards your business requires, more is wasted than just the money spent on the project. Sub-par work inadequate to the specifications of the job order costs wasted time and energy, and no one can afford more of that than is necessary in today's busy world.

We understand at Digital Press. You can be sure of one thing when you send projects our way: you'll get what you order and much more than you pay for.

Whether you rely on our CD duplication or replication service or CD mastering, we'll listen to you carefully, walk you through the process at a pace that suits you, hear your needs, and, finally, produce precisely what you wanted - the first time. Of course, all of our work, from CD replicating to software packaging, is guaranteed, or we'll do it again.

CD Replication Service and Glass Masters

You may not be sure of what's involved when you order a large quantity of CD dupes, so here's a primer, for your convenience:

CD replicating, ideal for large orders, begins with a glass master, a round plate of glass that is about 240 mm across and 6 mm thick. A Laser Beam Recorder machine is used for mastering all of the information onto replicates. The glass master is used to produce what are called "stampers." These are part of a high temperature polycarbonate injection molding procedure that can produce up to 900 discs per hour.

Once a molded disc is created and cooled, it is coated with an alloy that produces a reflective layer needed for playing the disc. Then, a lacquer coat is applied to protect the disc from corrosion and wear and to provide a suitable medium for labeling. CD replication service provided by Digital Press of the Metro DC area includes labeling by both screen and offset printing, among other options compatible with the lacquer surface of CDs.

(Did you know? Not all marking media are compatible with the lacquer used on CDs. Some markers consumers use to label blank CDs can actually compromise the integrity of a CD surface and this can lead to corrosion of the metallic layer!)

CD Duplication: Replication Service with Lasers

Lowered cost of writable media has made what was once a viable option only for small orders of CD-R dupes a possibility for bigger orders. Unlike our CD replication service, duplication uses a CD-R that only accepts one instance of data storage. Similar to CD duplication, replication service procedures include recording data in microscopic pits. Duplication is commonly known as "burning" and is done with lasers.
