Digital Press offers several options for CD & DVD printing. From color laser labels, to black thermal, silk screen, offset, and even Digital Photo Gloss with variable data! Turn times vary, so please be sure to consult with us on your project to determine what’s best for you.
Color Laser Labels:
CD & DVD artwork can be color laser printed onto paper labels for quick turn projects (24-48 hours). All labels are printed on our high quality Xerox Docucolor printer, and we have two label options: small hole (print-to-center) labels, or larger hole (print to stacking ring) labels. Artwork is printed CMYK only (PMS spot colors will be converted).
Black Thermal Printing:
Black thermal CD printing is black-ink only printing directly onto the silver surface of the disc. It is ideal for simple text & logos. Best results are achieved by avoiding large areas of solid black as well as grayscale art. Black thermal printing is not suggested for use on DVDs, as the reflective surface of the disc does not image well.
Silk Screen Printing:
Silk screen CD & DVD printing is ideal for projects that require use of PMS spot colors. Using PMS colors at 100% will have a nice solid look, and will screen nicely at percentages above 15%. Please note that any color value below 15% will drop to zero, and values above 85% will fill in to 100%.
Offset Printing:
Offset CD & DVD printing gives the best results for photographic and detailed images because of its higher resolution (175 lpi). Offset artwork is printed CMYK, so please design your artwork accordingly (PMS spot colors will be converted). The minimum quantity for offset CD & DVD printing is 1,000.
Digital Photo Gloss Printing:
Digital Photo Gloss printing is a unique method of printing that gives similar results of offset printing, but with shorter turn times and no minimum runs. Printing is full color CMYK, so please design your artwork accordingly (PMS spot colors will be converted). Please note that Digital Photo Gloss printing does not work well for large areas of solid light colors (some banding and ghosting can occur). Ask us about variable data printing with the Digital Photo Gloss method. CDs & DVDs can be unique and personalized with names, serial numbers, barcodes, and even photos and illustrations.
